Background of Zomi Education Center Cheras:
Zomi Education Center, Cheras was started in 2009 in Taman Cheras, Kuala Lumpur by a group of refugee parents- teachers with few students. It’s designed to give underprivileged children a chance to learn. ZEC-Cheras was working with Zomi Association of Malaysia ( ZAM ).
In the center teaches Pre-School through grade 5 and now in until today 2019 Academic Year total comprises 357 underprivileged children between the age of 4 and 17 since the center was started; all of them are from Myanmar. Mainly, the most students staying around the center and some students stayed with their teachers in the learning center as boarding school whose parents or guardians are staying far from the learning center.
School Operating hours:
The school starts at 9:00 am and finish at 3:00 pm every Monday to Friday. On Friday, it is for Religious and Languages (Biblical, Burmese (Official Uses Common Langauge ) and Zolai (Mother Language) … etc).
The main aim of ZEC Cheras is to give basic education to refugee children in their early year that will contribute self-reliance in their future.
The objectives of ZEC Cheras are:
To give basic education to underprivileged children.
To respond to the immediate need of refugees’ education to build a better and responsible life.
To develop peaceful and responsible citizens that adequately prepares them for the demands of a decent life in the society.
Zomi Education Center, Cheras ( ZEC-C) is Community Base Private refugee school , that always standing depending collecting maintenance fees every several month to each students.
